US Open: Sabalenka beats Pegula to clinch women’s singles title
No.2 seed Aryna Sabalenka captured her third Grand Slam singles title, and her first in New York City, defeating American Jessica Pegula, 7-5, 7-5 to win the US Open title.
Indian tennis star Sania Mirza on Tuesday revealed what brings maximum joy in her life. It is the honour of playing for India and national jersey that intensify her emotions.
“Very few things have brought greater joy in life than this. #fortunate #special,” Sania captioned a picture she posted on Instagram. She is seen playing in an India jersey.
The 30-year-old tennis professional from Mumbai has won three doubles grand slams and was formerly ranked No.1 in the women’s doubles rankings.
In the recently-concluded US Open, Sania and her Chinese partner Peng Shuai lost to the Swiss-Taiwanese pair of Martina Hingis-Chan Yung-jan. Hingis and Yung-jan later went on to win the women’s doubles title at the US Open.
